The Engenheiro Armando Pimentel Municipal Swimming Pool, under the responsibility of the municipal company Ágora, has opened its doors again, fully equipped and requalified. In a municipal investment of around 2 million euros, this intervention made it possible to overcome a number of structural deficiencies in the interior and exterior of the building.

In order to encourage the practice of physical exercise in the learning of children in the city of Porto, the Municipality also invested around 400 thousand euros in the requalification of 10 external infrastructures of six Basic Schools: EB 2/3 António Nobre, EB 2/ 3 Areosa, EB 2/3 Manoel de Oliveira, EB 2/3 Pêro Vaz de Caminha and EB 2/3 Leonardo Coimbra.

Among the various interventions, there are new floors and equipment for different sports: football, basketball and handball, thus contributing to the social integration of these communities.

During the first quarter of 2024, work also started on the Campo do Viso stand, and on the electrical infrastructure at the Praia Stadium. This first contract, estimated at 215 thousand euros, aims to requalify the existing bench, with a view to improving comfort, safety and circulation conditions.

The Praia Stadium, the largest seasonal sports infrastructure managed by Ágora and which has been operating for 15 years with various competitions and activities, is being rehabilitated in terms of electrical equipment and lighting towers, with a contract value of 79 thousand euros.

Scheduled to start in the second half of 2024, the Campanhã Municipal Field, a new sports facility located on land between Rua de Justino Teixeira and the municipal swimming pools, still needs approval from the Court of Auditors.
