Handmade sweets are a new tourist attraction in Bom Jesus de Braga

-

An artisanal sweet, made from almond kernels, orange and honey, is the second of five products that the Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte launched as part of the ‘5 Sentidos’ cultural, religious and tourist promotion project.

Smell was the first sense chosen in this project, with the launch of an air freshener that brings together the fragrances of Bom Jesus. Now, the Brotherhood is focusing on taste and challenged the Trappist Nuns of Palaçadolo, Miranda do Douro, to develop an artisanal pastry product that represents the essence of this resort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The presentation of ‘Docinho do Bom Jesus’ took place this Friday, and was attended by the president of Braga City Council, Ricardo Rio, who highlighted the investment in tourism and gastronomic promotion of this project.

“This is another attraction for those who visit the city of Braga and pass through Bom Jesus, who can take something that, in an innovative and creative way, allows them to enjoy what is the identity and resources of our territory. In this particular, through gastronomy and a sweet that uses the abundant fruit of the Bom Jesus landscape”, said the mayor, in the session that was also attended by the Archbishop of Braga, D. José Cordeiro, the president of the Confraria do Bom Jesus, Canon Mário Martins, and Sister Annuziata, Trappist nun from Palaçadolo.

‘Docinho do Bom Jesus’ is on sale at Casa das Estampas and Hotéis do Bom Jesus, costing 8 euros per package.
