Starting this Friday, the Shalom Catholic Community will carry out the Siege of Jericho, at the Church of São Tiago da Catividade, in the center of Braga. The event offers seven days of uninterrupted Eucharistic adoration to the faithful.
The start is scheduled to take place right after the celebration of mass this Friday, at the Church of São Tiago da Catividade. The Siege of Jericho lasts until May 3rd.
“God arise, behold, his enemies are scattered and those who hate him flee before him” (Psalm 67, 2) was the biblical passage chosen for the theme of this year’s Siege of Jericho. According to Andréia Assis, a Shalom Community missionary who is part of the organization, “the event is marked by a time of intense intercession for various personal and community realities. Furthermore, this year, the Siege of Jericho will also be a concrete opportunity to intercede for the V National Eucharistic Congress that will take place in Braga in May”.
Andreia Assis recalls that “the experience of the Shalom Community with the Eucharistic Congress is very important, as it was from an event like this, held in Brazil, that the founder Moysés Azevedo felt a burning desire in his heart for evangelization, later starting a time to the Shalom Community, in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará. Currently, the Community is present in more than 30 countries, always having as one of its hallmarks a great love for the Eucharist. That’s why, for us, promoting a moment of worship like the Siege of Jericho is so important.”
