Director of the Jornal Terras do Demo honored at the Moimenta da Beira Meeting in Lisbon: Gazeta Rural

It was a record number of registrations. Around 350 people attended the Moimenta da Beira Council Meeting in Lisbon, which took place at Voz do Operário, a mythical space in the Portuguese capital. The event, aimed at people from the municipality of Moimenta who live in Lisbon and its surroundings, had several notable moments: one of them was the tribute to the director of Jornal Terras do Demo, Gil Carvalho, for the way in which he has promoted the municipality of Moimenta. “The newspaper is not mine, it belongs to all Moimentens. I have dedicated my entire life to social communication with the aim of taking news from the municipality of Moimenta further and further. This is what I will continue to do as long as my health allows.”

Another memorable moment was the presence of Chef Fábio Bernardino who made the Meeting cake and was greatly loved by everyone. “I already feel like I’m part of Moimenta,” he confessed. The fado singer, António Pinto Basto, further embellished the night with happy fados and sang one of his best-known songs, Rosa Branca. João Silva, from Inseparáveis, also entertained those present with popular music. As usual, the Moimenta da Beira Council Meeting in Lisbon featured typical Moimenta products: sparkling wines, wines, sausages, among others.

Representing the Lisbon City Council was the municipal director of culture, Laurentina Pereira: “Lisbon is privileged. It is very rich, diverse and promotes these synergies that connect us to Moimenta and so many other spaces in this country. I am amazed by this organization.”

The Mayor of Moimenta da Beira, Paulo Figueiredo, highlighted the holding of yet another meeting: “This only happens because the people of Moimenta, in this case who are in Lisbon, work with affection and dedication and are very classy people. Creating a meeting of this nature is a reflection of a lot of work. This event is the biggest we have outside our territory and has already reached a level of excellence. You are greatly missed in the municipality of Moimenta, on the other hand, Lisbon benefits a lot from your presence here”.

Nuno Soares, from the organizing committee, left the following words: “Thank you everyone. Without you, it would not be possible for us to reach the record number of registrations since we started holding the meeting in 2022. We spent fewer hours as a family to make this meeting a reality. It’s a lot of work, but in the end it’s worth it because we see that everyone is happy. It’s my work, but also that of Tópê, Timóteo Carvalho, Sofia Silva and Miguel Fernandes. However, the meeting would not have been possible without the great support of the Moimenta da Beira City Council, which has always supported us from the beginning.
