The Co-management Committee of the North Coast Natural Park (PNLN), unanimously approved the Annual Activity and Budget Plan for 2024, with a global investment of more than 28,500 thousand euros, announced this Friday the City Council of Esposende.

It should be noted that this body, chaired by the president of the Esposende municipality, Benjamim Pereira, is now part of the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of the North, represented by the vice-president with the Environment and Nature Conservation area, Célia Ramos .

The document, which establishes strategies and investments for the valorization and preservation of the protected area throughout the year, was also the target of a favorable opinion from the Strategic Council, which also issued a favorable opinion regarding the Activity Report for the year 2023.

The municipality highlights that in terms of promotion, awareness and communication between current execution and projects, an investment of around 11,200 thousand euros is estimated, in addition to an expected investment of around 18,500 thousand euros in environmental enhancement, requalification and land planning projects. territory, coastal protection projects and risk areas, valorization and innovation projects for sustainable development, among others that can be consulted at https://cogestao.esposende.pt.

“The execution of the Co-management Plan for the North Coast Natural Park constitutes a significant milestone for the preservation and enhancement of this protected area, in which the strategies and investments outlined aim for efficient and sustainable management of the PNLN, strengthening awareness among the local community and promoting effective communication with the various actors involved”, states the Chamber of Esposende

“Since its creation, in March 2021, the Co-management Committee has played a fundamental role in the proximity management of the PNLN, with the active participation of the Municipality of Esposende and representatives of entities relevant to sustainable development and valorization of the natural spaces of this Protected Area”, he adds.

The Co-management Committee is a body directly involved in defining the strategy for the valorization and sustainable development of this protected area, implementing concrete measures to maintain the integrity of the ecosystems and to promote territorial cohesion, based on the valorization of natural resources.
