Two new public spaces were opened in the town of Almancil, in an initiative by Loulé City Council and the Almancil parish council, which was part of the commemorative program for the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.

On Rua Poeta Aleixo, a space for staying and socializing with the Jardim da Vila was created. A redeveloped playground area with new equipment, including exercise machines and a new floor in the playground. In a published note, the Municipality explains that “in addition to improving the level of safety and aesthetics of the site, this intervention was intended to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle with the paving of an area extended to outdoor activities”. Trees were also planted to bring shade to the space.

In Jardim das Comunidades, the municipality states that there is now a new recreational area in the northwest part. “More equipment for children to play, with the expansion of the age ranges for which they are intended, improvement of the pavement and reinforcement of the trees are the main elements of this work to requalify the public space, designed by the young architect Sara Nunes”.

Joaquim Pinto, president of the Almancil parish council, thanked the municipality for this work that was “an aspiration of many people over time”.

“Our work is for people, but if these people are children the pleasure is even greater because it is a joy to see children jumping and laughing”, highlighted Vítor Aleixo.

The investment in the total of the two spaces – Jardim da Vila and the Jardim das Comunidades playground – amounted to 180 thousand euros.

“Since 2013, Almancil has changed very quickly and for the better”, said the mayor of Loulé, announcing that the inauguration of the Multipurpose Pavilion is soon to take place, in the parish which will be named “25 de Abril Pavilion”, as assured by Vítor Aleixo.
