Triumph was only confirmed in extra time

This Saturday, FC Porto managed to qualify for the Portuguese Cup final. The Dragons defeated Oliveirense 4-3, at the Estádio Municipal de Barcelos, in a match that was only decided in extra time.

The captain of the blue and whites, Gonçalo Alves, opened the scoring seven minutes into the first half, but Oliveira de Azeméis’ team turned things around before the break, with goals from Facundo Navarro (8′) and Lucas Martínez (12′) . Gonçalo Alves could have made it 2-2, but Xano Edo saved the Portuguese’s penalty.

In the second half, the result remained unchanged until the 23rd minute, when Carlo di Benedetto made it 2-2 to push the duel into extra time.

And then, the team led by Ricardo Ares turned around. First, Gonçalo Alves scored from the penalty spot (54′), and Carlo di Benedetto, in the second half of extra time, made it 4-2 following a free kick missed by the Dragons’ captain.
