The Secretary of the Parish Council of Vila Praia de Âncora, Luís Matias, was present, at the invitation of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, last Thursday in Belém at the Coach Museum, on the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974 .
ANAFRE (National Association of Parishes), representing the Parishes of Portugal, was awarded the Grand Collar of the Order of Liberty, by the President of the Republic.
«The Order of Freedom is intended to distinguish relevant services provided in defense of the values of Civilization, in favor of the dignity of the Human Person and the cause of Freedom.
The Grand Collar of the Order of Liberty is the highest degree of the Order and is awarded by the President of the Republic to foreign Heads of State. The Grand Collar may also be granted by the President of the Republic to former Heads of State and to people whose achievements, of an extraordinary nature and special relevance for Portugal, make them worthy of this distinction.»
Vila Praia de Âncora and the district of Viana do Castelo were represented by its Secretary, Luís Matias, who works at ANAFRE (National Association of Parishes) as District Coordinator of ANAFRE of Viana do Castelo.
