Crimes were motivated by matters of passion.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced this Monday the arrest of a man and a woman, in Viseu and Coimbra, suspected of the crimes of kidnapping, robbery, serious physical harm and possession of a prohibited weapon.
In a statement, the PJ said that the crimes, committed on February 2, in Viseu, were motivated by matters of passion.
According to the PJ, the suspects, “in the company of another man who, at the time, was absconding, under the pretext of consuming narcotic products”, took a 24-year-old man “to a forested area on the outskirts of the city of Viseu”.
“At the location, away from houses, he was threatened with a firearm, violently attacked, tied up and doused with fuel. However, as he managed to free himself and escape, he ended up not being set on fire”, he added.
The man and woman were detained in Viseu and Coimbra, pursuant to arrest warrants.
After the first interrogation at the judicial authorities, the man was subject to the coercive measure of preventive detention and the woman was forced to make weekly appearances and prohibited from contacting the other participants.
