Chef who worked with Michellin stars abroad will return ‘home’ to open a restaurant in Braga

Chef Nuno Resende will open his first restaurant, in Braga, scheduled to open on Friday. “Osteria Bracara” will be located on Rua António Marinho, in Bairro das Fontainhas, and promises to be a space for lovers of Portuguese and Italian food, but also good music.

Nuno Resende has a 12-year career in the United Kingdom, including stints at some of the most prestigious restaurants, such as “Savoy Grill” and “Maze” by Gordon Ramsay and “The Ninth” by Jun Tanaka, where he led as ‘headchef’ and won a Michelin star.

After these experiences with English haute cuisine, Nuno returns to his homeland and his Portuguese roots to offer “a unique culinary experience”.

“’Osteria Bracara’ is a tribute to Portugal’s rich gastronomic heritage, combined with the sophistication and passion for Italian cuisine. The carefully crafted menu features a variety of dishes that reflect this fusion, including cod ‘uovo in raviolo’, Bísaro pork bacon carbonara and Algarve mackerel fed with salsa verde”, reads the note sent to O MINHO.

And he adds: “Each dish is a celebration of the best local ingredients, prepared with technique and creativity.”

It will have a 100% Portuguese wine list, “carefully selected” to complement each dish. From fresh verde wines to robust Douro wines, the selection offers “a journey through the country’s wine flavors”.

The experience at “Osteria Bracara” goes beyond food and wine. According to Nuno Resende, customers will be “surrounded by an atmosphere, where vinyl music creates the perfect setting for an unforgettable night”.

From smooth jazz to 90s hip-hop and 80s alternative rock, the offering will be eclectic.

“I am extremely excited to share my passion for cooking and music with the Braga community,” says chef Nuno Resende.

He considers that “Osteria Bracara” is more than a restaurant, it is a space where people “can come together, enjoy good food, good wine and good music, all in a welcoming environment”.
