This afternoon, the Leiria Chamber approved the draft execution of the TIL – Leiria Intermodal Terminal, to be built next to the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Municipal Stadium, to replace the current bus station.

Approved unanimously, the project points to a base cost of the work of around 2.5 million euros. To JORNAL DE LEIRIA, Luís Lopes, councilor for Mobility, says that the objective is to award the work by September, with construction expected to progress that month and the terminal to be “fully operational” a year later.

In addition to the collective transport of passengers on the interurban and express networks, the new infrastructure will include a taxi rank, a Biclis station and a connection to the Mobilis service and the Polis route, “allowing intermodality of means of transport, in an area of ​​easy access to various services and equipment”, says a press release from the chamber.

The terminal will have 15 docks for many other buses, a building for administrative services, a waiting room for passengers, a ticket office and bar area, a covered square and a landscaped outdoor rest area.
