The investigation, conducted by the National Counterterrorism Unit, resulted yesterday in the arrest of the young man, of Portuguese nationality, suspected of the crimes of qualified homicide, offenses against qualified physical integrity and discrimination and incitement to hatred and violence, as well as the practice of pornography crimes. minors, explained the Judiciary Police, in a statement.

This operation aimed to “understand and identify the activity carried out online by the detainee”, with the PJ carrying out home searches and “seizing a vast collection of evidence, namely computer and digital material”.

According to this police force, the detainee “created and manages a group on the Discord platform, where different people apologists for the same ideals came together and who intended to commit acts similar to those idealized and propagated by him”.

These acts include: serious self-mutilation of young people, mutilation and death of animals, dissemination of extremist Nazi propaganda, instigation and practice of the “mission” to commit massacres in schools (filmed and transmitted via cell phone) and, also, sharing and selling of child pornography.

“The PJ has already managed to determine that this type of conduct was shared in the group, including live broadcasts of attacks against animals that lead to their mutilation and death, young people drinking detergent and mutilating themselves with sharp objects”, highlighted this force police officer.

“Through a particularly violent and extremist ideology, the young detainee provided advice regarding the modus operandi and clothing to be worn by other participants when preparing and committing crimes,” he added.

According to the PJ, following these behaviors “an attack with a firearm (a 38-caliber revolver) took place at a school in Sapopemba, Brazil, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl.”

The perpetrator of the crime at the Brazilian school showed, in the Discord group, images of the weapon and the hat he was going to use, as well as the school where the crime was going to take place, according to the note.

This investigation, in charge of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Lisbon, had the collaboration of the Federal Police of Brazil and was initiated with “urgency, taking into account the seriousness of the suspicions”, highlighted the PJ.

“This is a type of crime that the law defines as violent crime and especially violent crime, being considered crimes of priority prevention and investigation under the terms of Law 51/2023 of August 28”, he highlighted.

The PJ also indicated that it will continue the investigation, with one of the “main lines of investigation being to identify, in international terms, other agents of crimes in which they may be involved in this network and this type of conduct”.
