The Committee for Economic Affairs, Municipal Companies and Tourism of the Municipal Assembly of Braga visited the works that are underway in Bairro das Andorinhas.

The intervention is being carried out under the 1st Law Program and the Braga Local Housing Strategy, in an investment of around six million euros, supported by PRR funds. It is estimated that the neighborhood will be completely renovated by 2026.

During the visit, João Rodrigues, councilor responsible for Housing and president of the Board of Directors of Bragahabit, said that the interventions “will allow a considerable increase in the dignity and quality of life of residents”. “We are talking about interior and exterior works that will guarantee much more comfortable and efficient homes. Due to the importance of the interventions, it is important that the Municipal Assembly is aware of the progress of the work”, highlighted the councilor.

According to the commission, “the rehabilitation operation in Bairro das Andorinhas has completed interventions in Blocks 10 and 11, Blocks 15 and 16 and Blocks 5, 6 and 7 (Common Parts), Blocks 8 and 9 (Common Parts). The only contracts to be awarded are for Blocks 20, 21 and 22 (Common Parts) and Blocks 26 and 27, despite the respective public tenders having already been awarded”.

According to Carlos Videira, executive administrator of Bragahabit, the contract for Blocks 31, 32 and 33 (Common Parts) “is the only one whose public tender has not yet been launched, and it is expected that this will happen in the coming days”. “BragaHabit has already submitted 81 applications from private owners in Bairro das Andorinhas, through the role of Direct Beneficiary, something that will allow them access to financing from the 1st Right and the carrying out of the corresponding rehabilitation of private housing units”, explained the administrator , during the visit which also included representatives from the neighborhood’s Residents’ Association.

For João Nogueira, from the Committee for Economic Affairs, Municipal Companies and Tourism of the Municipal Assembly of Braga, the visit “allowed us to learn about the ongoing rehabilitation project”. “This commission’s mission is to monitor and monitor the City Council’s powers in matters of housing”, he said, noting “the effort made by Bragahabit to bring and execute the housing policies outlined by the central government”.

Remember that the 1st Right – Support Program for Access to Housing aims to support the promotion of housing solutions for people who live in unworthy housing conditions and who do not have the financial capacity to bear the cost of access to adequate housing.
