Actor Vin Diesel is furious about budget cuts imposed by Universal Studios for the next film in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise. The 10th ‘Fast’, released in 2023, cost $340 million and made $714.6 million in ticket sales. According to National Enquirer magazine, the star would not be able to make good on his desire to have a budget of at least US$250 million for the 11th and (alleged) final film in the series.

“Universal executives are committed to convincing Vin to find a way to make this film significantly cheaper,” said the studio source.

However, according to the same contact, Diesel would not be happy with this change of plans and would be using his social media accounts to encourage the public, with posts suggesting an epic outcome for the franchise.

“He wants it to be the biggest of all ‘Fasts’ and is seeking support with posts on social media,” said the same source. “It’s a smart move, but it’s also upsetting the studio, which was the source of its financial success. Vin needs to prove to the studio that fans will come to the theaters.”

The expectation is that the 11th ‘Fast’ will hit theaters in April 2025, directed by filmmaker Louis Leterrier. The director was also responsible for the 10th film, after filmmaker Justin Lin resigned due to alleged conflicts with Diesel on the set of the work.

A few weeks ago, Diesel made a post celebrating the start of pre-production on the 11th film in the franchise. He ignored recent rumors that he would step away from the project because of sexual assault allegations made against him by a former assistant.

In December 2023, Asta Jonasson, the star’s former assistant, denounced Diesel for an incident that occurred in 2010, during the recording of the fifth film in the franchise. She alleges he groped her and molested her against her wishes. Through his lawyers, the actor denied the accusation. Watch the trailers for the first and 10th ‘Fast and Furious’ below:
