‘Ghostbusters: Ice Apocalypse’ expected to gross US$42-44 million in US debut

According to deadline‘Ghostbusters: Ice Apocalypse‘ should raise around US$42-44 million in its debut at the North American box office.

The numbers are at the same level as the release of the previous chapter in the saga, ‘Ghostbusters – Beyond‘, which debuted with US$44 million in the country, in 2021.

The site also states that the film grossed solid US$16 million last Friday (22).

It is worth highlighting, however, that ‘Ice Apocalypse‘ received a B+ rating from viewers on CinemaScore – the same assessment received by the criticized 2016 female reboot.

Unfortunately, the sequel, which hits national cinemas in 11th of Aprildoesn’t seem to have pleased critics either.

At the Rotten Tomatoesproduction recorded only 43% approval based on 49 publications until now. In terms of comparison, the previous film won 64% positive reviews.

Directed by Gil Kenan (‘The Monster House’), the film has an age rating PG-13 (that is, for those over thirteen years of age), due to “supernatural action/violence, suggestive language and references”.

For comparison purposes, the previous title also had the same rating.

But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, the original and new Ghostbusters must join forces to protect their homes and save the world from a second Ice Age.

The new film will feature the return of Ernie Hudson, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd It is Carrie Coonin addition to introducing Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, James Acaster It is Emily Alyn Lind.

Jason Reitmandirector of the previous film, will serve as producer alongside Kenan It is Jason Blumenfeld.
