Signs is the film that ended Mel Gibson’s career and earned the title of highest grossing film in the actor’s life.

It’s no surprise to anyone that Mel Gibson is a big name in the cinema world and has collected several famous works in his career, such as: Braveheart and Lethal Weapon. With so many successes throughout his profession, the actor and director received high revenues for the productions in which he participated and produced. One of them being one of the best science fictions of the millennium: Signs, by director M. Night Shyamalan, available on Star+.

The film tells about the former priest, Graham Hess (Mel Gibson), who after the death of his wife, he and his children, Morgan (Rory Culkin) and Bo (Abigail Breslin), and his brother, Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) , move to an isolated farm in the United States where there is a huge circle of corn plantations nearby.

Until one day, mysterious circles appear on their plantation for no apparent reason and, in parallel to this event, the media begins to report alien appearances. Could this be a sign of a possible alien invasion of the world?

When Signs hit the big screen in 2002, Gibson was at the height of his fame. He had already won the public’s affection for three films: The Patriot, What Women Like and We Were Heroes and with Signs it was no different as it became the highest grossing film of his career as an actor and, with that, Mel Gibson ended his career as an actor.

Gibson gave his all in his performance as he was a difficult character to deal with and the reward for his hard work came quickly. The film had worldwide gross sales of around US$408 million.

As a director, Mel Gibson achieved success with Passion of the Christ, a film in which he directed, produced and scripted and earned more than 200 million dollars at the box office. With this success, the director began filming the sequel at the beginning of this year.
