Strong images and emotions in the first trailer for “Kinds of Kindness”, the new film by Yorgos Lanthimos.
The film is contemporary, but brings together, in front of and behind the camera, many of those who participated in the historic “The Favourite” (2018) and “Poor Creatures”, nominated for 11 Oscars and which won four statuettes at the ceremony on March 10, notably for Best Actress (Emm Stone).
In addition to Stone and the returns of Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley and Joe Alwyn, Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau and Hunter Schafer join the cast for what is an anthology described as a ‘triptych fable, which follows a man with no choice who tries to take control of your own life; a policeman alarmed because his wife who disappeared at sea has returned and looks like a different person; and a woman determined to find someone specific with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”
With a script by Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou, resuming the celebrated collaboration of “Canino” (2009), “The Lobster” (2015) and “The Sacrifice of a Sacred Deer” (2017), “Kinds of Kindness” is one of the titles to be generate more expectations and is expected to have a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
It hits theaters in North America on June 21st and is still awaiting confirmation of its release in Portugal.
