O MGM Studios announced, this Wednesday (27), that it will produce a sequel to the 2018 film A Small Favorstarring Anna Kendrick It is Blake Lively. The two actresses are confirmed in the sequel, as is the director Paul Feig.
The film is a partnership between MGM and Lionsgate and must be launched directly into the Prime Video. Recordings will begin this spring, between March and June.
In addition to Kendrick and Lively, the entire original cast is expected to return, with Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho It is Kelly McCormack reprising their roles.
Jessica Sharzerwho wrote the first film, will also script the sequel, alongside Laeta Kalogridis and the director himself. The original screenplay was based on the 2017 book of the same name by Darcey Bell.
In A Small Favor, Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) is a lonely mother who befriends Emily Nelson, a powerful and fearless woman. Until one day, Emily disappears, and Stephanie goes in search of answers on her own, but along the way she discovers that her new friend was nothing like she thought.
Next, Stephanie and Emily leave for the island of Capri for Emily’s stunning wedding. But the script for the nuptials between the woman and a wealthy Italian businessman must include betrayal and murder.
A Small Favor 2 was confirmed in May 2022, but had not received updates until now. Feig and Laura Fischer will produce the film for Feigco Entertainmentwith Sharzer as executive producer.
Released in September 2018, A Small Favor grossed US$97 million at the box office globally. The film became popular again recently after being included in the catalog of Netflix.
