Kristen Stewart says she would never do a Marvel movie and explains why: “It feels like a f*cking nightmare”

Best known for her role as Bella Swan in the “Twilight” saga, Kristen Stewart has moved away from major productions in recent years, giving preference to independent projects. Amid the release of one of them, the actress was asked about the possibility of working with Marvel, and was not afraid to criticize the comic book giant.

In a recent appearance on the podcast “Not Skinny but Not Fat”, this Tuesday (26), the star of “Love Lies Bleeding” highlighted that, despite being no stranger to “big budget” projects, she does not see herself entering in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

According to Stewart, his way of working doesn’t align with Marvel’s. “I’ll probably never do a Marvel movie… it feels like a f*cking nightmare, actually,” shot the actress.

Amanda Hirsch, commander of the attraction, highlighted that Kristen could one day play one of Spider-Man’s romantic interests, like Mary-Jane Watson, already played by Kisrten Dunst. However, Stewart reinforced that Marvel would have to “change drastically” for it to even consider getting involved in one of its productions.

“You would have to invest so much money and so much trust in one person… and that doesn’t happen. And then what ends up happening is this weird, algorithmic experience where you can’t feel personal about it.”reflected the star. “Probably not [participaria]. But maybe the world will change, that’s what I’m saying. How could I say no when maybe one day…”, she continued.

Kristen also stated that she might change her mind, under one condition: “If Greta Gerwig asked me to do a Marvel movie, then I would.”. Listen to the full episode below:

The speech came after Dakota Johnson spoke publicly about the disappointing performance of “Madame Web” in theaters. The film is a project from the Sony-Marvel universe, but it did not please fans and ended up drawing criticism from the cast itself.

According to Variety, the live-action film about Cassandra Webb had raised, until the beginning of March, just US$40 million (R$198 million) at the box office in the United States. As for worldwide revenue, the film was below the US$100 million mark, around R$495 million, after three weekends since its release.

Asked about the subject by Bustle, Dakota surprised by saying that she already expected failure. “Unfortunately, I’m not surprised this went down the drain the way it did.“, admitted the actress. “Sometimes in this industry, you sign something, and it’s one thing. And as you’re doing it, it becomes something else entirely, and you’re like, ‘Wait, what?’. But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not cool to be part of something that gets blown up, but I can’t say I don’t understand why. That’s why I have my own company. In a movie like this, I have nothing to say about“, she added.
