April 1st: Discover five films with great liars

April 1st is known for being April Fools’ Day. In Hollywood, the theme is very recurrent and can generate incredible twists. Pretexts are responsible for suspenseful plots, such as Catch Me If You Can (2002) It is The Departed (2006). In fact, Leonardo DiCaprio is the protagonist of both films. Do you know who the main liars in the world of cinema are?

However, lying can also be the path to great comedy. Directed by and starring Ricky Gervais, The First Liar (2009) does exactly that. A classic of the genre, School of Rock (2003) uses a pretext to boost the story and place Jack Black’s character as a teacher.

Based on a true story, Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a master of disguise. Before turning 18, the protagonist has already worked as a lawyer, co-pilot and even a doctor to carry out million-dollar scams. Called the most successful bank robber in the United States, he catches the attention of the FBI, especially agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks).

Winner of the Oscar for best film, The Departed also won a statuette for Martin Scorsese in the best director category. The story follows a dispute between the Irish mafia and the Boston police, in the United States. The bandits manage to infiltrate the other side of the law, at the same time that a guard becomes an informant within the criminal faction.
