The trailer for ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’the sequel to the acclaimed 2019 film, will be released on April 9th.
The trailer will be shown at the studio’s panel at CinemaCon, a convention in Las Vegas that will have EXCLUSIVE coverage from CinePOP. The information was revealed by the insider Daniel Richtman.
CinemaCon 2024 takes place between April 8th and 11th.
The film will be a manic musical with Joaquin Phoenix reprising the role of the Joker and Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn. The decision to turn it into a musical has divided fans, but the film is being described as a “jukebox”.
For those unfamiliar, jukebox musicals are those that use popular songs performed by the actors themselves, as we saw in ‘Mamma Mia!’ It is ‘Moulin Rouge!’.
According to Variety, the film will feature at least 15 reinterpretations of songs “very well known”, as well as some original songs. One of the featured songs will be “That’s Entertainment”from the musical ‘The Band Wagon’ (1953).
The film’s budget is estimated at around US$200 millionbeing one of Warner’s most anticipated releases.

It is worth highlighting that Folie à Deux is a term that means “shared psychosis”, which could be a reference to the fact that Gaga will play Harley Quinn.
