The director of Sonic 3, Jeff Fowler, announced on his social networks that the production recordings had ended. From now on, the film enters the final stage of production – adding special effects, including 3D characters in the scenarios and putting the final touches for release in December.
As previously announced, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2024 and, apparently, they are following Paramount’s schedule to fulfill their promise. More details and even a trailer should be released later.
There is still not much official information about Sonic 3, just that we will see Jim Carrey returning as Dr.Robotnik and the presence of Shadow – the dark blue hedgehog antagonist. Tails, Knuckles and the human cast will also be back for this new adventure.
There are expectations that the series Knuckles, which will arrive on the Paramount+ streaming platform on April 27, will connect the two previous features to the film’s new story. As we can see, the production will feature the participation of a large part of the cast and also the great video game icons.
In the American version of Sonic 3, we will have the return of Ben Schwartz as the protagonist’s voice actor, as well as Idris Elba playing Knuckles again and Colleen O’Shaughnessey in the role of Tails. In Brazil, the characters are voiced by Manolo Rey, Ronaldo Júlio and Vii Sedek, respectively.
Sonic 3 could end cycles
While we wait for the next few months to see more from Sonic 3, it is worth noting that actor Jim Carrey has officially announced his retirement in 2022. Even though he returns as the classic video game villain, it is possible that this will be the last production in which we will see the actor.
Furthermore, although Paramount wishes to further explore the character’s universe, it is possible that the third film will also represent the end of the contract with the other actors in the human cast – such as James Marsden, Tika Sumpter and Natasha Rothwell.
