Actress Kirsten Dunst revealed she was the subject of an “inappropriate question” from a filmmaker when she was 16 years old. Now 41 years old, the artist reflected on some of the challenges she faced in her career and celebrated the support offered by her mother in a recent interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph.

Dunst stated, “I was only able to escape the predatory side of the industry because wherever I went, my mother was literally by my side.”

Then she recalled her experience with the filmmaker whose identity was not revealed: “A director received me in his office, alone, and asked me questions about this film he wanted me to work on, then, out of nowhere, he asked me an inappropriate question.”

“Honestly, I don’t even know if he’s still working, it’s not something I think about. But I say that the question had nothing to do with acting and it’s not that he just said ‘something a bit strange’. It was totally inappropriate. I remember sitting there and knowing something was wrong, but not knowing what to do.”
