The veteran actor and director is full of praise for one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

He’s a living Hollywood legend: at 93 years old, Clint Eastwood is still making movies. The last time we saw him in front of the camera was in the film Cry Macho: The Road to Redemption, in 2021, which he directed and starred in, and now he is working on what should be his last feature film: a thriller that is already in post-production, titled Juror #2, with a very interesting premise: a member of a popular jury discovers that he may be the culprit in the murder case he is trying.

Unlike his other films as a director, Eastwood remains behind the camera this time and also serves as producer, with Nicholas Hoult and Tony Collette in the lead roles. The film also stars veteran Kiefer Sutherland, but does not yet have a release date.

The multi-award-winning director and actor, four-time Oscar winner for Golden Girl and Unforgiven (two of the films he directed and starred in), made cinema history. In addition to being a source of inspiration and learning for many of the generations that came after him, he was also very enthusiastic about the work of his colleagues.

Clint Eastwood is a great admirer of another great Hollywood star: Tom Cruise, an action hero who, at 61, continues to stand out for his talent for performing stunts and choreographing impossible scenes. A talent that did not go unnoticed by the director – and that he himself shared with other colleagues, as Cameron Crowe (Vanilla Sky, Almost Famous) said in a statement published in Far Out Magazine.

According to Crowe, he had the opportunity to have a relaxed conversation with Eastwood and ended up talking about some of his favorite actors: “I met Clint Eastwood once. I asked him about Chris Penn because he had worked with Penn on The Lone Ranger,” the director recalled to Film School Rejects.

We were talking about how amazing Chris Penn was and for some reason we brought up Tom [Cruise]. Clint Eastwood said, ‘100 years from now or so, people will remember this generation of movies, and the guy who will stand out more than anyone else will be Tom Cruise.’

It’s interesting to note that although Cameron Crowe has worked with Tom Cruise twice (in Jerry Maguire and Vanilla Sky) and understands Eastwood’s praise better than anyone, the opposite has never happened: Tom Cruise and Clint Eastwood have never worked together, although it almost happened in 2012 when Eastwood planned a remake of A Star Is Born with the Mission: Impossible star in the lead role. Unfortunately, as we know today, the project never came to fruition.
