Star Wars fans are familiar with May 4th, also known as ‘Star Wars Day’. This year, the program will feature the return of one of the films in the saga to the cinema. “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” will also be shown in cinemas in Roraima.

In Brazil, the film’s distributor announced that the production “Phantom Menace”, released in 1999, returns to cinemas after 25 years. In Roraima, so far Cine Super K has already announced that it will show the film, but has not yet provided further details about showing times.

To understand the chronological order of releases, you need to know that the first Star Wars films were released in the late 1970s, namely “Star Wars: A New Hope” (1977), “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” ( 1980) and “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” (1983).

Years later, the director and creator of the saga George Lucas decided to launch a new trilogy with events prior to the first three films, explaining the origins of some classic characters and telling the story of Anakin Skywalker. The films are “The Phantom Menace” (1999), “Attack of the Clones” (2002) and “Revenge of the Sith” (2005). The film that will be shown again is the first in the second trilogy.

Understand “Star Wars Day” or “May The Fourth”

The action is part of “May The Fourth” or “May 4th”, an expression in English that recalls one of the film’s famous phrases. This is because the verb “estar” in English is “may”, which also means the month of May. Furthermore, the translation of the number 04 for “fourth” is “fourth” in English and resembles the word “force”, thus recalling the phrase “May the Force be with you”.

Considering this coincidence, many fans began to use May 4th to hold activities, meetings, exhibitions, marathons, cosplay contests and so on.
