Film with Wagner Moura surpasses blockbuster with Bruna Marquezine at box office at premiere

“Civil War” opened in American cinemas on the 12th and placed actor Wagner Moura at the top of discussions about cinema — from topics about his performance in the action film to the “sexy appeal” he showed as journalist Joel. And in comparison with “Besouro Azul”, a film with Rio de Janeiro actress Bruna Marquezine, the film starring the Bahian is taking the lead. This is what a survey on the website Apostagolos.com reveals.

“Civil war” grossed on its opening weekend in the United States (USA) 25.5 million dollars thanks to the presence of audiences in theaters across the country. Already “Blue Beetle”released last year with Bruna Marquezine among the protagonists, also had a good debut, but stopped in the 25 million dollars collected.

In total, “Besouro Azul” raised around 130 million dollars while it was on display around the world. “Civil War” totals around 52 million dollars after almost two weeks of showing.

The biggest American box office opening weekends with Brazilian actors

“Civil War” has been successful and placed ₢ for the second time on the list of ten films with highest grossing openings in American cinemas and which feature Brazilian actors in the cast.

The feature film surpassed not only “Besouro Azul”, which features Bruna in the scene, but also “Predators (2010), a film starring Alice Braga, and “Focus” (2015), a feature film with Rodrigo Santoro in the cast.

The result, however, is much lower than what was achieved by the film with a Brazilian in the cast with the highest grossing on its opening weekend. “Eu Sou a Lenda” (2007), starring Will Smith and featuring Alice Braga in the cast, reached no less than 77 million dollars. The numbers were collected on the specialized website “Box Office Mojo”.
