Among the new releases on the big screen that are worth highlighting is the drama “Rivals”, a North American production, directed by the Italian Luca Guadagnino, the same director, producer and screenwriter of Italian cinema, the same as “Call Me By Your Name” and “Suspirira ”. The director brought together one of the main actresses of the moment, Zendaya, and placed her in a love triangle with Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist. Thus, the production follows Zendaya as Tashi, a talented tennis player who becomes a coach for her own husband, a mediocre player. In the middle of the process of transforming him into a world champion, his former best man reappears, who is also Tashi’s ex-boyfriend. From then on, the rivalry turns into a love triangle that reignites personal conflicts.

Another new feature worth seeing is “La Chimera”, directed by the Italian Alice Rorhwacher, with Josh O’Connor, Carol Duarte, Alba Rohrwacher and Isabella Rossellini. A success at the Cannes, Rotterdam and São Paulo Film Festival festivals, the drama shows Arthur as a young English archaeologist who lost his great love and returns to the place where he met her, in the Italian region of Tuscany. There he joins a group of ancient tomb robbers and lives an adventure between the world of the living and the dead, the forest and the city, celebrations and solitude. A production with touches of magical realism.

And for lovers of suspense and horror, the news is “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2”, by British director Rhys Frake-Waterfield, set five months after the events of the first feature. In a city haunted by a bloody past, Christopher Robin struggles to overcome the trauma left behind by the terrible murders in the forest. While the city blames him for the deaths, Winnie the Pooh and his allies plot terrible revenge, unleashing a new wave of brutal crimes.

MUSICALS

Two works with a musical touch arrive from Brazil. The first of them is “Dorival Caymmi – Um Homem De Afetos”, by filmmaker and journalist Daniela Broitman. After having made another documentary, “Marcelo Ayuca no Caminho das Setas”, the director now proposes a delightful journey through the universe of the singer and composer who revolutionized music in Brazil. Caymmi influenced generations of musicians, paving the way for what we know as Bossa Nova and Tropicália.

“Aumenta Que É Rock’n’Roll”, by Thomas Portella, brings together Johnny Massaro and Marina Provenzzano and places them in Brazil in 1982. The young dreamers and friends had the idea of creating a radio station dedicated to rock. The characters of Massaro and Marina get together with competent professionals in the field and create Fluminense FM, with programming focused on the genre that attracts listeners and new artists. Famous as “Maldita”, the radio innovated with female announcers, helped many musical groups, and participated in the first Rock in Rio. Union of history and musicality.
