Russell Crowe is ready to face evil again! “The Exorcism”, which features the actor as the protagonist, received a chilling trailer this Thursday (25). The video was released by Vertical Entertainment, which acquired North American rights to the horror film from Miramax. The film opens on June 7th in the United States.

Directed by Joshua John Miller, the production tells the story of Anthony Miller (Crowe), a troubled actor who begins to mentally disintegrate while acting in a sinister film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins) wonders if her father is returning to his past addictions or if there is something more serious happening to him.

The trailer begins with a symbolic speech from the protagonist. “Forgive me, Father, for having sinned. It’s a job that comes to me because of someone else’s tragedy“, says Miller. After visiting the film set, father and daughter begin to witness disturbing scenes and strange events behind the scenes.

Crowe also appears, in other scenes, being possessed by a greater force and even self-mutilating. Simpkins’ character, in turn, turns to a priest, who reveals: “I was saved once, but I didn’t believe it would happen again“. Look:

“The Exorcism” is the star’s second feature in the subgenre in just two years. Last year, he played a priest in “The Exorcism of the Pope,” distributed by Sony Pictures.

In addition to Crowe and Simpkins, the film’s cast also includes Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, David Hyde Pierce, Adrian Pasdar, Tracey Bonner and Josh Warren. For now, there is no forecast for a debut in Brazil.
