Sylvester Stallone may be 77 years old, but that doesn’t mean he’s old. He is currently filming the second season of Tulsa King. But now, the star has just officially confirmed the imminent release of the director’s version of Rocky Balboa, one of his best films.
Released in 2006, Rocky Balboa was a much riskier bet than it seems today, as the saga had been inactive for 16 years after the disappointment that was Rocky 5 and it was questioned whether we would see Stallone back in the ring again. However, the film was a success in all aspects, but fans were eager to see the first montage that Stallone presented.

The first version of Rocky Balboa lasted two and a half hours, with at least one test screening with an audience. However, MGM demanded to cut it and the version we all know finally runs an hour and 42 minutes. Some deleted scenes were included in the home edition and others that we never got to see in these 18 years.
The question now is whether the director’s cut that was announced for the 4K edition of Rocky Balboa is that first cut of Stallone that fans have been wanting to see for so many years or whether it is another version that was worked on recently, as happened at the time with Rocky 4. We don’t have this important detail yet, but it will be a matter of weeks or even days before it comes to light.
