The superproduction “Guerra Civil”, starring Bahian actor Wagner Moura, continues to surpass numbers in Brazilian cinemas. Since its debut on April 18, the film recorded more than 585 thousand tickets sold with revenue of R$ 13.7 million.

Over the second weekend of screening (between April 25th and 28th), A24’s work, distributed nationally by Diamond Films, once again topped the box office in Brazil, with 198 thousand people and revenue of R$4.92 million.

With this feature alone, Diamond Films surpassed the result for the entire year 2023 in four months. Until April 28, the distributor raised more than R$46.5 million in tickets, already higher than the R$41.4 million collected in the whole of last year.

Directed and scripted by Alex Garland (“Termination”, “Ex-Machina” and “Annihilation”), “Civil War” also stars Kirsten Dunst and Cailee Spaeny and portrays an unprecedented war in the United States. The film follows a group of journalists, including Wagner Moura’s character, who travels across the country in a dystopian future, during an intense conflict that involves the entire nation. The film’s cast also includes names like Stephen McKinley Henderson, Jesse Plemmons and Nick Offerman.
