Twenty years later, the actor is debuting his first film as director and actor.

Chris Pine is a well-known face in Hollywood, but exactly 20 years ago he was trying to make his way in the profession through small roles.

Years before he began to stand out with his work in several romantic films, Chris Pine, in his early twenties, tried his luck with smaller roles in several television series in the early 2000s, such as Doctor’s Day or CSI: Miami.

However, her big break came in 2004, just two decades ago, with The Princess Diaries 2, the sequel to the famous film that years earlier had catapulted Anne Hathaway’s career.

In the film, Chris Pine played Nicholas Devereaux, the suitor they are looking for for Mia (Hathaway) and who everyone believes is the ideal husband to fulfill the requirement of getting married to inherit the throne of Genovia.

Considering that the first film was a success, landing such a prominent role in the sequel to The Princess Diaries was quite an event for Chris Pine, who twenty years later still remembers the experience as a before and after in his career.

Chris Pine is currently making his directorial debut with the film Poolman, in which he also stars. During promotions for the feature film, he took the opportunity to talk about how starring in the famous romantic comedy alongside Anne Hathaway changed his life.

“I had my little Verizon phone, the silver one, and I got a call from my agents saying I got the job. I stopped on the side of the highway and they said, ‘They’re paying $65,000,'” the actor recalls in an interview to Today.

It was as if they told me I had just won 50 million dollars. I clearly remember knowing, at that moment, that my life had changed in some way, although in the end I ended up accepting it. [o papel] for 15 thousand.

The actor, who remembers that he owed his parents money for the rent on his apartment and that his bank account was low, didn’t care about the money issue, as he knew he had gotten a golden opportunity: “It was an insane feeling. I’ll never forget .”
