“When I was growing up, my father didn’t want me to listen to Metal like that, right away, he wanted me to get used to other things”said Simon. He wanted me to discover Slipknot on my own. So he showed me some songs and said, ‘This is your father,’ and waited to see if I liked it or not.”.
But did Simon like the band? “That’s how I knew I was a Maggot. I still feel like I’m a fan, even though I’m his son. And it’s a crazy feeling… I listen to the band all the time because it makes me feel good”.
But what exactly did Clown show his son? “He introduced me to Skrillex, and then he showed me Helmet and he showed me Snot and he showed me all these different bands every day. And I’m so grateful for that, because he made me love jazz and classical music and all these different genres instead. of just liking metal”.
