Portugal’s chances at Eurovision: what the bookmakers say

All the songs that will be presented in the 2024 edition of Eurovision, which will take place in Malmö, Sweden, from May 7th to 11th, have now been chosen.

Portugal will be represented by Iolanda, with ‘Grito’, the winning song at the Festival da Canção. According to the “Eurovision World” website, which brings together the trends of several betting houses, the song is very far from being able to win: it occupies 33rd place on the list of favorites, ahead only of competitors from Luxembourg, Moldova, Czechia and San Marino.

The big favorite for now is ‘Rim Tim Tagi Dim’, by Croatian singer Baby Lasagna: the “Eurovision World” ranking gives him a 20% chance of winning.

This is followed by ‘La Noia’, by Angelina Mango, the Italian representative, and ‘Teresa & Maria’, by Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil, competitors from Ukraine, both with 12%.

Sweden does not seem, for now, a candidate to repeat the 2023 victory: ‘Unforgettable’, by Marcus and Martinus, only has a 2% chance of winning, ex aequo with competitors from the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Austria, Norway and Finland.

The odds for each of the semi-finals, but according to general indicators the Portuguese song would be below the 10 qualified in the first semi-final, in which it competes with 14 other competitors: in this round, taking place on May 7th, and again having as its sole basis According to the probabilities presented in this ranking, Portugal would only have songs from Luxembourg and Moldova below it.

Remember that iolanda will perform in the first semi-final of the competition, scheduled for May 7th, together with representatives from Croatia, Cyprus, Republic of Ireland, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia, Ukraine, Australia, Azerbaijan, Finland, Iceland, Luxembourg , Moldova and Slovenia, with the Portuguese artist being the penultimate to take the stage. The final, which includes Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, is scheduled for May 11th.
