Other covers end up drawing attention for being somewhat questionable. This is the case of “Led Zeppelin III”, Led Zeppelin’s third album, released in 1970. The album features famous tracks such as “Immigrant Song” and “Friends”, but the cover art did not please guitarist Jimmy Page at all.

This is what he himself says in an interview published by Far Out: “It was a disappointment. I will take responsibility for it. I knew the artist who made it and I described what we wanted with this circle that made things appear and change… I I wasn’t happy with the end result — I thought it looked like a teenager thing. But we were under a deadline, so, of course, there was no way to make radical changes,” he said.

The album “Led Zeppelin III”

The album “Led Zeppelin III” marked a significant change in the band’s sound. Recorded in different locations, including a country house called Headley Grange, it showed a progression from pure rock to a more acoustic and folky approach.

Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham played all instruments. The album included both original compositions and reinterpretations of traditional songs, reflecting acoustic and folk influences. Although it initially received mixed reviews, “Led Zeppelin III” was an immediate commercial success.
