The American band Killswitch Engage is one of the representatives of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal, a wave consecrated Trivium, Shadows Fall, Lamb Of God and other North American groups from the early 2000s. Throughout its respectable trajectory, Killswitch Engage released great songs, such as “My Last Serenade”.
“My Last Serenade” is the fourth track from “Alive Or Just Breathing”, Killswitch Engage’s second studio album, released in May 2002. According to guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz (who also plays drums), the song in question was born during a jam.

“When the rest of the guys showed up to train, I felt like I had something new to show them, so we played around with it! Joel [Stroetzel, guitarra] created the riff that appears at the end [da música]but we developed it together very quickly,” concluded Adam.
“‘My Last Serenade’ has many meanings to me,” explains vocalist Jesse Leach. “It’s really about burning bridges. There comes a time when you have to leave people behind, let them know that you care and that there is only so much love you can give a person until they drag you down with her”, added the frontman.
