The Portuguese under-19 football team failed to qualify for the 2024 European Championship this Tuesday, losing to Denmark 2-0, in the third round of Group 4, played in Coimbra.
In a match in which a draw was enough for the quinas team to secure first place and subsequent qualification for the European Championship, which will take place in Northern Ireland between the 15th and 28th of July, Denmark, for whom only the triumph mattered, advanced in the 60th minute, by Thomas Jorgensen, having extended the count in the 70th, through Emil Hojlund.
With this triumph, Denmark, group winner, with nine points, secured the only place for the European Championship, awarded only to the winners of each of the seven qualifying groups, while Portugal finished in second place, with six. Greece and Serbia, who drew 3-3, concluded the tournament with just one point, in third and fourth place, respectively.
