The PSP arrested the alleged accomplice of a man who was killed this Monday, following an attempted robbery of a police officer on Rua Atriz Maria Matos, in Benfica, Lisbon.
According to a source from the Judiciary Police (PJ), cited by the Lusa agency, the homicide prevention service received a call from the PSP at around 5:00 am reporting that a law enforcement agent had fatally shot a suspected robbery suspect in the your residence.
According to the report made to the PJ, the agent was approached by an armed man, on the public road, when he was in his private vehicle stopped at traffic lights in the Algés area, in the neighboring municipality of Oeiras.
The suspect, according to a PJ source, forced the agent to drive to an open area where the detained woman joined him and the two forced him to drive the vehicle to her house.
Already at his residence, in Benfica, the policeman managed to reach his service weapon and fatally shot the man, while the woman, who was waiting for him outside, ended up detained by the PSP.
A source from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) of the PSP previously told Lusa that the agent was approached by a couple at around 3:30 am in Algés and, under threat of a firearm, was forced to go to the ATM and, later, to House.
The same source, who spoke in the morning, also indicated that one of the suspects was hit in the chest with a firearm, but was unable to say whether or not the suspect had been detained.
The case has been handed over to the Judiciary Police.
