Bruno Fernandes believes that Francisco Conceição has everything to assert himself in the Portuguese national team, considering that the FC Porto winger deserved his debut in the corner team.

In a press conference this Monday, the Manchester United midfielder also argued that having his father as coach harmed Chico’s development.

“I think he didn’t assert himself sooner because, fortunately or unfortunately, he has his father as coach and there is a scale that many people don’t know how to make a difference. But he has all the qualities to be where he is and deserves this call. His father doesn’t He’s a selector and he’s here, so something good has to be there. I really admire his qualities. I like the irreverence he brings to FC Porto’s game”, said Bruno Fernandes, who also highlighted Jota Silva (V. Guimarães), the other debutant for the Portuguese team: “There hasn’t been much time to talk much yet, but I congratulated Francisco and Jota. If they are here it’s because they did something good. It’s a deserved opportunity”, he stressed.

In this sense, the Manchester United player highlighted Roberto Martínez’s “very intelligent” decision in opting for a wider squad.

“The manager spoke to several players and explained why. We are at a stage of the season where there are still many games and it is very intelligent to try to manage the group in this way. There are injuries, the intensity is always high, it is very intelligent on the part of the mister and staff”, he explained.
