Benfica B marked a step forward, on Monday afternoon, at the end of the 27th round of the II League, against Académico de Viseu (1-1). In a match where the goals only came in the second half, Gianluca Prestianni was responsible for the hosts’ advantage.

In the 49th minute, the 18-year-old Argentine took advantage of a penalty to score the first goal for Benfica.

In the response, at 57m, Arthur Chaves restored equality. Following a dead ball, the Brazilian central defender took the lead and, benefiting from a slight deflection by André Almeida, scored the second goal in the II League.

Until the end, Nelson Veríssimo still exchanged Prestianni, Pedro Santos, Henrique Pereira and Nuno Félix, for João Rêgo, Gerson Sousa, Hugo Félix and Rafael Luís, but without threatening the imposing and serene Domen Gril.

At 90m, the Slovenian goalkeeper flew to stop Hugo Félix’s accurate header, which came at the far post after a cross from the right.

The draw keeps Benfica B in 10th place, equal with FC Porto B (11th). In any case, the water line is at 17 points. Next is the visit to Oliveirense, on Sunday.

As for Académico de Viseu, Jorge Simão’s team recorded their fourth consecutive draw and their fifth game without winning. Therefore, the «Viriatos» are ninth, with 38 points, equal on points with Mafra. In the next round, the Viseenses host FC Porto’s B team, on Monday.

Mafra extends Torreense’s negative series

Slightly higher on the map, Mafra triumphed against Torreense, 2-1. After a “lukewarm” first half, devoid of opportunities, the complementary stage featured an away team intent on winning on neighboring soil. However, the hosts opened the scoring at 52m, through Diogo Almeida.

The 23-year-old striker scored his fifth goal in the II League, surpassing the records achieved at Mafra, Benfica B, Sp. Covilhã and Paços de Ferreira.

Containing the pressure and devising counterattacks, Silas’s team increased the lead in the 84th minute, benefiting from central Elimbi’s own goal.

The response from the Torres Vedras team only came into effect after 87m, by David Costa. On his debut for Torreense’s main team, the 20-year-old midfielder justified Tulipa’s bet.

The fourth consecutive defeat forces Torreense to seventh place, seeing Paços de Ferreira and Tondela park in the positions above. This is followed by the reception to Marítimo (4th), on Sunday, at a stage in which Torrense scores 39 points.

As for Mafra, the victory allows them to climb to eighth place, with 38 points, equal with Académico de Viseu. Next Sunday there will be a visit to the “red lantern” Länk Vilaverdense.
