The vice-president for the financial department of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa’s list of directors of FC Porto, João Rafael Koehler – who ‘inherits’ the place occupied until now by the former minister and president of the Porto municipality, Fernando Gomes – has “ the same degree of concern” regarding the club’s accounts that it had four years ago. But, this time as responsible for the portfolio, he considers that the club “does not have a very serious financial problem, but it does have a very serious treasury problem”.

Adding that SAD’s CFO will be José Fernando Figueiredo – linked to the genesis of mutual guarantee and having become president of Banco de Fomento during its launch phase – Koehler has already established the ‘road book’ to get the club out of the troubles it is facing. have been demonstrating for several years. And he will ‘attack’ in two ways: on the expenditure side – where the need for administration bonuses to be sharply reduced – and on the revenue side. Where, he says, the margin for progression is very large.

To achieve this, as he explained, there are several decisions in the pipeline. Having explained the reason why FC Porto wanted to obtain the assistance of an international company specialized in maximizing the revenue of football clubs (the Legend group), João Rafael Koehler also explained the operation of the FC Porto Loyalty Card – Banco Digital – which will as far as the partnerships that the club decides to formalize.

Very critical of the competing list led by André Villas-Boas, former coach of the football team – who does not spare accusations of amateurism and lack of knowledge, particularly in the financial area – Koehler considers that the team has, on the other hand, to “internationalize” , through the acquisition of smaller teams in regions that have to do with “the nostalgia market”. There is already a list for this other type of approach to competition – which Koehler believes is not yet time to reveal.

In view is also the issue of television rights. And, in this chapter, there is bad news for the media: the possible vice-president with financial responsibility considers that there is no good reason for Porto Canal to continue to be financed by the club. “We don’t have to have a television channel to do politics,” he says.

And he also leaves a comment to André Villas-Boas: if it is not merely a virtual reality that the leader of the competing list obtains loans at a rate close to 5% “I will sit around all day waiting for him” so, together, and how two good Porto players, contribute to the club’s sanitation.
