Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed this Thursday that Xavi Hernández will continue as Barcelona coach, despite having announced in January that he would leave the position.
«We are pleased to announce that Xavi will continue as coach of the first team. We know he said some things midway through the season, but today we have this good news. Xavi conveyed to me the illusion and confidence he has in the project,” he said at a press conference.
«Xavi had the courage to take over Barcelona at the moment we were and we, culés, we have memories. This year we did not achieve our objectives. They fell within the space of a week, but we are convinced that it is the best decision,” he added.
Next to Laporta was Xavi himself, who, after the manager’s intervention, explained the reasons that led him to change his mind and remain in the position.
