One day after the surprising statements by Rafael Yustevice-president of FC Barcelona, regarding the continuation of Xavi Hernández as coach of the Catalan club, here comes the confirmation: Xavi renews until 2025.
In a press conference, held in the early afternoon of this Thursday, Joan Laportapresident of the culé emblem, began his intervention with a guarantee:
“I am pleased to announce that Xavi continues as coach of the Barça first team. He did some statements in which he mentioned that he thought about leaving [janeiro de 2024], but yesterday he conveyed to me his enthusiasm for the project and the team. Since we met yesterday, we have been certain that stability is a must in successful projects and especially for this one… Today I am especially happy”, concluded the director of the Catalan emblem.
Remember that this confirmation comes months after Xavi stated that he would leave Barcelona’s technical command at the end of this season.
In this sense, also the Catalan coach explained the decision: «Initially, I thought leaving was the best thing for the club, but I changed my mind. I changed my mind because I really felt total trust from the president, the management and also the players. This project is not finished yet. Me, my team, we all feel that we have the strength to do important things together and continue this project. I am 100% percent convinced that we can find a way to win. I’m excited about it. Many things have changed in recent months», he explained to journalists.
