In a week full of events with powerful reflections on the benches of some of the main emblems of European football, next season, the British station “Sky Sports” says that Arne Slot is the one chosen by Liverpool management to succeed Jurgen Klopp in command of the “ reds.”
The charismatic German coach, aged 56, announced, at the beginning of 2024, his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of this season, nine years and eight trophies later, including a Champions League, in 2019.
The Portuguese Ruben Amorim, who guided Sporting to the isolated leadership of the League and to the final of the Taça de Portugal, was identified, with some insistence, as one of the strongest candidates to succeed the German. The coach even traveled to England at the beginning of this week, although it was later reported that he did so to talk to people linked to West Ham.
However, Liverpool have decided to go for Arne Slot, a 45-year-old Dutch coach, who is playing his third consecutive season at Feyenoord. On his CV, he has a Dutch championship title and a Dutch Cup, both with the Rotterdam club. Furthermore, they were also finalists in the Conference League in 2022, ending up defeated by José Mourinho’s Roma.
If the change is confirmed, Arne Slot will leave for his first adventure outside the Netherlands, after having emerged at AZ Alkmaar, where he began as John van den Brom’s assistant.
As for Ruben Amorim, he was not impressed with the project presented to him by West Ham, with the scenario of continuity in Alvalade, in 2024/2025, gaining more strength.
