On parole since January, Oscar Pistorius, 37, is a shadow of what he once was. The former South African Paralympic athlete, sentenced to 13 years and five months in prison – of which he served 11 – for the death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in 2013, now lives isolated in a luxurious mansion in Pretoria, South Africa.

The former Paralympic champion, known as ‘Blade Runner’ due to his carbon fiber ‘legs’, gained weight in prison and had to have new prosthetics made.

Pistorius, who had both legs amputated when he was 11 months old, won six medals at the Paralympic Games and was the first double-leg amputee to run alongside able-bodied athletes at the London Olympics. Months later, on Valentine’s Day, he killed 29-year-old Reeva with four shots fired through the bathroom door of his home.
