The PS5 Pro must have more goals. GTA 6 is not enough!

If there’s one thing that the Nintendo Switch proved, and that in a way the Xbox Series X also showed, it’s that performance isn’t everything within a generation of consoles.

The PS5 is not the most powerful console on the market, however, it is the one that sells the most. Likewise, the Nintendo Switch was never the most powerful console on the shelves, but it was also the one that sold the most (and still sells) in the world of video games.

This is exactly why, despite all the extremely interesting rumors and leaks regarding what Sony is preparing for the PlayStation 5 Pro, it is undeniable that the “thing” has to have more stuff than this.

The PS5 Pro seems to be a more powerful console, yes, but also with a great desire to take advantage of one of the most important releases in the world of video games… The launch of the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6. Is that enough?

The PS5 Pro must have more goals. GTA 6 is not enough!

Therefore, it is almost certain that Sony is preparing to launch a slightly more powerful version of its current PlayStation 5, with a release date set for somewhere around the time this generation reaches the middle of its life cycle, or that is, in October~November 2024.

The strategy seems to be very similar to that of the past with the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X.

However, there are differences between the recent past and the present!

The old Pro versions arrived on the market between 2016 and 2017, at a time when the big TV manufacturers were betting heavily on 4K (Ultra HD), which of course, were being a success.

Therefore, there was a need for more powerful consoles, capable of offering higher resolutions. This was the basis for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. There really was a target audience!

Now, almost 8 years later, the story is a little different.

Yes, it is true that 8K TVs already exist, but no one buys them because they are expensive, and truth be told, the difference between 4K and 8K is very difficult to identify in everyday life. In fact, the PS5 Pro should even hit the market without official 8K support. This should only be added through a software update later.

So the idea is that… Sony’s main goal is to launch a PS5 Pro, to offer the best way to play GTA 6.

After all, if there’s anything rarer than new TV technologies, or new consoles, it’s the launch of a completely new Grand Theft Auto.

Furthermore, despite several signs pointing to a new Xbox Series X, the reality is that no improvements in performance are expected.

Therefore, the PS5 Pro should be the most powerful console of this generation.

Interestingly, Sony also has the “help” of the fact that GTA 6 will not be released immediately for the PC, which is always the most powerful platform on the market.

So, to offer better visual quality, more FPS, etc… Sony will increase the CPU frequency a little, revolutionize the GPU, and include more memory. In addition to all this, it will also include its new PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) technology with the help of AI.

However, although it is almost certain that the PS5 Slim will drop in price with the launch of the Pro version, this should also mean a significantly higher price compared to the current Sony console. How much higher? We have no idea.

Does it make sense to play just one game? Hmm… We’ll have to wait and see.
