Samsung finally has Android functionality, others have been using it for a long time

-

Google has been trying to improve Android and give it new features that it then makes available to all manufacturers. These features are, as a rule, positive and made the most of them. Samsung now seems to have started using one of the most interesting ones, associated with updates, after all other manufacturers have taken advantage of it for their smartphones.

The topic of updates has always been complicated in the Android universe. Brands often choose not to invest in this area, leaving their smartphones abandoned and exposed to security problems that could be simple to circumvent and prevent.

To improve this process, Google introduced Seamless Updates a few years ago, which guarantee faster update installations. These are done in the background and in a different area of the storage, resulting in a faster installation process.

Samsung seemed to have some resistance to adopting this process, not using it on its smartphones, without an obvious reason. This seems to change now, with the latest update that reached the Galaxy A55. As has been reported by multiple sources, this time Seamless Updates are present.

As can be seen in the image above, the One UI interface has changed and has different messages. Now it indicates that it is “downloading and installing” the update, then moving on to the simplest phase. In this case, the button only says that it will restart and the process ends.

For those unfamiliar with Seamless Updates, it allows devices to install an update in the background and apply the update upon startup. Although it is normally slower and can consume more storage, the A/B partition allows for a safer installation, as in case of problems, it can be rolled back to the previous version of the software.

It is not known whether this way of updating Android will be extended to other Samsung smartphones or how this will happen. This process is normally prepared at the factory and always before reaching users. In the case of new equipment, this should become the standard.
