There have been many rumors over the past few months that Microsoft is working on an Xbox handheld. Even Xbox team leaders are apparently hinting at this, as big boss Phil Spencer went on an X-like spree recently on articles about a portable Xbox, and Xbox president Sarah Bond revealed last month that they he has “some exciting things coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday season.”

Now, the usually reliable Windows Central editor Jez Corden has added more fuel to the fire and says on the Xbox Two podcast “that they have portable prototypes now.” In the podcast, Corden also adds that these are new products and not older things, and that “not a cloud portable, a fully native Xbox portable.”

Although it is still just a rumor, there is more and more smoke indicating that there may actually be a fire somewhere. Considering the recent success of very powerful PC-based portables like the Steam Deck, MSI Claw, Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go – it really doesn’t seem too far-fetched that the Windows and Xbox owner would want to make a unit of their own that fully supports the Game Pass.

What do you think and how interested would you be in a portable Xbox?
