Although Siri has been an integral part of iOS for a few generations, it seems that it will not receive major new features focused on generative AI with the new iOS 18. According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple should not introduce its AI chatbot , similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Apple is currently in talks with Google, OpenAI and Baidu to use their AI models in the future version of the system, but this should not involve creating a chatbot directly where users can “chat” in a natural way.

Artificial Intelligence should still be one of the company’s focuses for its future operating system, but contrary to what was pointed out, the focus should not be on creating a system around it to replace Siri, or even to compete. with ChatGPT and Gemini. Instead, the company should adopt technology to help users in their daily lives and with various tasks.

Even with this, it is still expected that WWDC 2024 will be heavily focused on AI, and that the technology will be used in various areas of the company’s devices and systems. For example, users will be able to have new AI experiences in apps such as Notes and Calendar, improving interactions and the way the system is used.

WWDC 2024 is scheduled to take place from June 10, 2024.
