Although Apple has been working to integrate new AI features into iOS 18, the company appears to still be in negotiations regarding the use of these technologies in China. Unlike other countries, where rumors indicate that the company may use models from Google or OpenAI, in China the company may only have to use models from Baidu.

However, according to China Daily, Apple has not yet reached an agreement with Baidu for the use of its models. Previously, rumors suggested that the two companies had already reached an agreement, but new information suggests that this may not have happened yet.

If confirmed, Baidu could be the company in China to provide AI models for iOS features. In the remaining countries, Apple should adopt Google’s models, with Gemini – although some rumors suggest that OpenAI is also on the list of possibilities, with the ChatGPT model.

Apple is preparing for big news with the introduction of AI functions in iOS 18, and it is expected that some of the new features will be revealed during the WWDC event, scheduled for June.
