Engineers who worked on the Vision Pro project are now developing Apple’s first foldable screen device, according to rumors released this Thursday (28). A new report from company supply chain sources also suggests that this product will be launched in the first trimester 2027.

The information is in line with a leak released in February. At the time, it was also commented that Apple’s first foldable device might not necessarily be an iPhone. Instead, the device could launch in an entirely new product category or as a brand-new iPad or MacBook lineup.

It is possible that Apple does not see major advantages in a “flip” format cell phone, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Motorola Razr 40, however, flexible screens could improve the use and portability of tablets and compact notebooks.

Recent speculation suggests that the manufacturer has at least two prototypes of foldable devices undergoing internal testing, but the specifications of these experimental devices are still unknown.

The brand’s supposed foldable is constantly being postponed, however, the hypothesis that Apple Vision Pro engineers were dedicated to the new project could indicate that there are, in fact, plans to launch a product that would rival a future generation of the Galaxy Z Fold or ASUS Zenbook Fold, for example.

It’s worth remembering that the Vision Pro is one of Apple’s most important launches since the MacBook with M1. Although its price is extremely high, the company’s first mixed reality headset is in high demand, and will soon be launched in China.
